Wildcat, NH gondola
Opening day for the Wildcat gondola, the first US gondola used as a ski lift, on January 25, 1958. George Macomber, left, was president of Wildcat. Brooks Dodge, William "Mack" Beal, and Malcolm McLane were the other principals involved in Wildcat's development. The mountain reflected the influence of its founders, whose formative skiing experiences were in international ski competition and at places like Tuckerman Ravine and Alta, UT. Wildcat was the first ski area to be built on National Forest land in the east.
